MICHAEL R. BARBER
Mike was born in Springfield Illinois to Lloyd and Helen (Franklin) Barber. He was one of ten children and he is survived by a very large family and Missy, mother of his children. Mike was a Union Carpenter and his job took him to many parts of the country, Wisconsin, Iowa, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania just to name a few. He helped to build dams, chemical plants, bridges, buildings, and other monumental things, he was very skilled in concrete work, scaffolding and carpentry. With his personality and hard work ethic, he easily gained the respect of his supervisors and co-workers. He enjoyed the challenge of work but it also caused his biggest regret, which was he didn't get to spend as much time with his children, Matthew, Adam and Nichole, as he truly wanted to. At the time of his death, he was employed with the PJ Dick Corp. in Pittsburgh.
Mike lived being outdoors; hunting, fishing, gardening, grilling out, walking the dogs or picking wild flowers, it didn't matter. He volunteered some of his time in helping others with various home improvement projects or carpentry work. Mike would often refuse payment for such projects, it was something that he just enjoyed doing. He also enjoyed shooting pool, drinking beer, playing cards, listening to music and spending time with his beloved, Mary Ann Dank. Prior to his passing he was a member of Most Holy Name of Jesus Church and had recently joined the St. Anthony's Lyceum.
A Memorial Mass is planned for Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at MOST HOLY NAME OF JESUS PARISH, 1520 Claim Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212-Troy Hill, with a luncheon to immediately follow in the social hall. Please post condolences on Mike's tribute wall at www.hughesfhinc.com.
