Laiken Hughes Obituary

Laiken Amanda Hughes

Age 34, of Troy Hill, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a long and difficult battle with complications related to addiction. She fought hard for 14 years, facing struggles that many could never fully understand. While addiction was a lifelong battle she carried, it is important to her family that people know, addiction is not what took her life. She did not pass from an overdose, but from devastating medical complications that followed years of suffering. Laiken is the loving daughter of Jill A. (Pavlik) Hughes and Shawn M. Hughes; dear sister of Ronnie Hughes, Morgan Hughes (fiance Brandon Bauer), and Matthew Hughes; beloved granddaughter of Marylou Pavlik and the late David J. Pavlik, and Shirley Hughes and the late Robert D. Hughes; she is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the HUGHES FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1501 Lowrie Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212-Troy Hill, where a Blessing Service will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, May 15, 2026.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations directed to her family to help with expenses would be greatly appreciated. Laiken was so much more than her struggles. She was funny, loving, stubborn, protective, and deeply loved by those closest to her. She had a huge love for her cats, scary movies, and everything related to Halloween. Halloween wasn't just her favorite- it was part of who she was. She found comfort in spooky movies, dark humor, cozy nights, and the little things that brought peace. More than anything Laiken loved family. Her mother and Nana were not only her family, but her best friends. They stood by her side through every battle, every setback, and every difficult moment when many others have walked away. The three of them shared a home together filled with love, loyalty, and countless nights spent watching movies together. Through all of life's hardships, they remained each other's constant source of comfort and support. She also loved her siblings deeply, and despite the hardships addiction caused over the years, that love never disappeared. Those who knew Laiken knew she had a caring heart underneath the pain she carried. She fought battles silently that many never saw, and her family hopes her story reminds others that addiction is a disease deserving of compassion, understanding , and support rather than judgement. Laiken leaves behind countless memories, laughter, love and a family who will miss her every single day. Though her battle has ended, her memory will continue living on in the hearts of everyone who loved her. The family asks for continued prayers, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please post condolences on her tribute wall at www.hughesfhinc.com.
