Donald J. Lucas
Don passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family after an eight-year battle with cancer. He was born on October 25th, 1957, to Joseph C. and the late Margaret M. (Kreuzer) Lucas of Reserve Township. He was the loving grandson of the late Joseph A. Lucas of Shaler Township and the late Helen Ayers of Hawthorne, CA, and the late Hans and Clara Kreuzer of Reserve Township. Don attended Point Park University and was actively engaged as a leader in the Student Government Association and Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. Don worked in the greater Pittsburgh area for nearly his entire career in various sales and management positions. He was an active member of Dutilh Church in Cranberry, Twp., PA. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan all his life and followed all local teams closely including the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, University of Pittsburgh Panthers and Duquesne University Dukes. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Cheryl (Bailiff), beloved daughter, Devin, dear son Jeremy, all from Pittsburgh and his four-legged companions, Tatum and the late Freedom; a sister, Donna (Lucas) Faulkner (Jeffrey) of Shaler Township and a brother, Doug Lucas (Shelley) of Cranberry Twp.; and nephews, Jason Faulkner of Shaler Township and Eric Faulkner of Charleston, SC; mother-in-law, Fay Bailiff of McCandless Township and father-in-law, James Bailiff (Beverly) of Sarasota Florida; brother-in-laws Jim Bailiff (Eve) of St. Cloud, FL and Richard Bailiff (Amanda) of Heaton, NC; and nephews Austin Bailiff of Gainesville, FL, Conor Bailiff (Yaniera) of St. Cloud, FL, Calvin Giles, Clinton Bailiff and Richie Bailiff, all of Sarasota, FL and James Lee Bailiff (Kaci) of Argyle, TX. He is also survived by an extended family of many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the physicians and staff of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and UPMC Shadyside and UPMC Passavant McCandless hospitals for their outstanding compassion and care. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 22nd at Dutilh Church, 1270 Dutilh Road, Cranberry Twp. Visitation with family will take place at 10 a.m. with the service starting at 11 a.m. Public welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Don Lucas Memorial Fund for Men’s Ministries at Dutilh Church in Cranberry, Twp.
