Charles "Don" Gordon
On Thursday, May 21, 2020 in his eighty-ninth year of life, Charles (Don) Gordon passed away peacefully in his sleep, with his very beloved wife of sixty-nine years, Norma (Sevcik) Gordon by his side. Don was a lifelong resident of Troy Hill, and an incredibly proud twenty-year Army Veteran, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. During his active duty time, he served as a Sergeant and Warrant Officer IV, and was awarded an Air Medal AFEM, AOM, AFRM, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation w/Palm, a Vietnam Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. After his honorable discharge, Don enjoyed a second career working for another twenty years as a civilian for the 911th Air Force Base in Moon Township, PA. Anyone who knew Don knew that the only thing that made him prouder of his military service, was the family he and Norma created. They had five children Dona Azen (Marty), Don (Debbie) Gordon, Dave (Elizabeth) Gordon, Denise (deceased) and Doreen Jackson (Jeff); ten grandchildren Shelly, Marty (Sandy), Jason, Gina (Judd), David, Jessica (Scott), Jodie (Diane), Donnie, Jeffery (Liz), and Jaymes; and five great grandchildren Julia, Aidan, Luc, Myla and Alaina. Don was an avid fan of all Pittsburgh Sports teams, he also enjoyed golf, playing the lottery, and reading the paper to stay up to date on current events. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 565 and the VFW Post 7090. There will be a private family service only. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. We know Don, our Dad, Pap, our Big Pap will be missed by all who knew him. He was 1-der-ful! Please post condolences on Don's tribute wall at www.hughesfhinc.com.
